Transforming the Birthing Experience at Adventist Health Tillamook

Our OB/GYN department is evolving into a more collaborative, patient-centered unit — one that reflects our commitment to exceptional care for mothers and newborns in Tillamook County. This transformation is not just about improved outcomes; it’s about elevating the entire birth experience. 

Recent innovations have allowed us to offer care that rivals larger urban centers, right here at home. One such advancement is our partnership with OHSU Hospital through a tele-NICU service. This vital connection allows us to care for higher-risk newborns with direct input from neonatology specialists, ensuring top-tier care without requiring families to travel. By embracing these telehealth capabilities, we’re keeping more babies close to home while maintaining the highest medical standards. 

Yet clinical excellence is only part of the story. We’ve reimagined our birthing suites to create a space that is welcoming, calming, and nurturing. Comfortable furnishings, thoughtful design elements, and labor comfort tools — such as essential oils and personalized care kits — contribute to a serene environment where mothers can focus on one of life’s most meaningful moments. We want every family to feel not only cared for but cared about. 

To support patients throughout their entire journey, we’ve introduced a care navigation program that provides ongoing guidance and support. Our dedicated RN care navigator helps families manage follow-up appointments, access resources, and feel confident through pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care. We’ve also expanded birthing education with both in-person and online classes, ensuring that every family — regardless of location or schedule — can prepare for childbirth with knowledge and confidence. 

We are looking forward to introducing a comprehensive lactation support program designed to help mothers succeed in their breastfeeding goals.
